Eretz Hemdah – Institute for Advanced Jewish Studies, Jerusalem (Registered Association), is committed, both socially and morally and in accordance with applicable law, to providing accessible services to the general public, including persons with disabilities, in accordance with the accessibility laws and regulations applicable in Israel.

Website Accessibility Adjustments

Accessibility adjustments have been implemented on the Eretz Hemdah website in accordance with Regulation 35 of the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Accessibility Adjustments for Service) Regulations, 2013, and the amendments made thereto.

Due to the dynamic nature of websites, browsers, assistive technologies, and different end-user devices, there may be cases in which full compatibility is not achieved with every possible combination of assistive technology, browser, and device.

Accordingly, there may be cases in which a particular part of the website is not fully accessible or in which a certain deviation from accessibility requirements is identified. Such a deviation does not necessarily mean that persons with disabilities are completely prevented from using the website.

Accessibility Adjustments Implemented on the Website

In order to improve accessibility, the following adjustments have been implemented on the website, among others:

• Use of a hierarchical structure and semantic tags, as well as the definition of areas and attributes using ARIA.
• Compatibility with the browser’s built-in zoom function up to 200%.
• Use of alternative text for images and visual elements, where appropriate.
• Ability to navigate between website elements using the Tab key.
• Clear visual indication around the element currently in focus.
• Ability to activate key interactive elements using the keyboard.
• Use of contrast adjustments through the website’s accessibility tool.
• Sitemap.

Accessibility Arrangements at the Eretz Hemdah Premises

The building in which Eretz Hemdah operates is an existing building. Access to the building and to some of its levels involves stairs.

To assist visitors who use wheelchairs, a portable stair-climbing device is available on site and is operated with the assistance of a person trained to use it. Since use of the device requires advance preparation, visitors who require this assistance are advised to contact Eretz Hemdah before arriving.

Wheelchair users can be accommodated in the Beit Midrash seating area, and wheelchair-accessible restroom facilities are available in the building.

There is no private parking lot at the premises. Parking in the surrounding area is available on public streets and is subject to municipal parking arrangements.
